  • Looking down from the top of the massive concrete wall of the Hoover Dam. At the very top of frame is the Mike O'Callaghan – Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. In the middle is the outflow of the Colorado River with the twin buildings housing the hydroelectric turbines on either side of the river. The dam spans the state border, with Arizona on the left and Nevada on the right. The supports attached to the rock wall are leaning so as to keep the electricity cables away from the rock to prevent them from shorting out.

  • The tops of the 8 massive turbines on the Nevada side of the Hoover Dam (the Arizona side has another 9 turbines). These turbines generate electricity from the water flowing through the Hoover Dam and into the Colorado River below. The turbines stand about 30 feet tall from the ground in this room with another 40 feet below this level. The room is about 650 feet long. At top can be seen one of the massive cranes that can lift 300 tons.
