  • A bust of General Vo Nguyen Giap. Giap was an important commander in both the First Indochina War and the Vietnam War and later became a politician and key political figure in Vietnam. The museum was opened on July 17, 1956, two years after the victory over the French at Dien Bien Phu. It is also known as the Army Museum (the Vietnamese had little in the way of naval or air forces at the time) and is located in central Hanoi in the Ba Dinh District near the Lenin Monument in Lenin Park and not far from the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.

Next to the field where the Battle of Waterloo took place in 1815, the farmhouse is famous as the place where Napoleon spent the night before the battle. It is now a museum. The room contains a number of side arms and other weapons used by French and Allied soldiers of the period. In the center of the room, in a glass display case, is a skeleton of a French hussar found nearby at the Ferme de la Haie-Sainte. The white statue is the official bust of Napoleon that was distributed throughout the empire during his reign.

Commonly known as Piloto Pardo, he was the captain of the steam tug Yelcho which rescued the 22 stranded crewmen of Sir Ernest Shackleton's ship Endurance from Elephant Island, Antarctica, in August 1916.
