Chapel at Granada Municipal Cemetery
A stone chapel, completed in 1922, stands near the entrance of Granada Cemetery. Granada Cemetery is Nicaragua's oldest cemetery and was, between the period 1876 and 1922, widely used as the final resting place of many of country's political and cultural elite, including six Nicaraguan presidents. Most of its tombs and mausoleums are above ground and in stark white stucco and marble.
