Surrounded by 19th century architecture, Plaza Simon Bolivar is a small public square in Casco Viejo, a block from the waterfront. It is named after Venezuelan general Simón Bolívar, the "Liberator of Latin America", and a statue of Bolivar stands prominently in the center of the square.
