Vernadsky Research Base Antarctica
Buildings at the Vernadsky Research Base in Antarctica. At left is the main generator complex, with the dock in the center of frame. Originally established by the British first as Base F in the British Falkland Islands Dependencies and later as Faraday Station, it was transferred to the Ukraine in 1996 and renamed Vernadsky Research Base after Soviet mineralogist Vladimir Vernadsky.
