Steam Train Jupiter at the Smithsonian American History Museum

The steam locomotive Jupiter on display at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington DC. The Jupiter was made in Philadelphia in 1876. It was built for narrow-gauge track and was made obsolete in 1883 when the line switched to standard gauge. it was then sold to Guatemala, where it hauled bananas for more than 60 years. In 1976, it came to the Smithsonian as part of the United States bicentennial exhibit.
