World War II Memorial Black and White Washington DC
WASHINGTON, DC - The World War II Memorial is dedicated to those who served during World War II in the armed forces or as civilians. It is located on Washington DC's National Mall, between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. Its centerpiece is a large fountain surrounded by 56 granite pillars, one for each state and territory, and a pair of small triumphal arches arranged in an oval. It was opened in 2004.
