Flores / Peten / Guatemala

Flores is a small colonial village on an island in Lake Peten Itza in northern Guatemala. It's a convenient base for exploring the nearby Maya ruins of Tikal. At only a quarter of a mile long, Flores is attached by a single causeway to its larger and more modern neighbor Santa Elena.
